I have HA running on Raspberry Pi 5 with Ruuvi Gateway and RuuviTag BLE integrations. Sometimes my Ruuvi Gateway might go offline from the network, maybe the power was disconnected. It looks like that then the RuuviTags which were connected to the Ruuvi Gateway will stay unavailable. However, some RuuviTags are probably connected all the time directly to the rpi and HA and stay available.
Why this happens? Could it be possible for the HA to connect directly to the RuuviTags if the gateway goes offline? I just assumed it would happen by default as HA is anyway detecting any new BT devices. Most of the RuuviTags should be within the reach of rpi BT as initially I didn’t have the gateway.
Is there a way to control whether the RuuviTags connect to the rpi 5 BT or the Ruuvi Gateway?
Yes using both and I would like to keep it that way should I lose power or wifi from the gateway. I use some of the RuuviTags for automations and the cabin is 500 km away from me.
RuuviTags are not in connected mode to your RPi or Ruuvi Gateway. RuuviTags broadcast their data and Bluetooth receivers just listen to the broadcast advertisement messages. Therefore, this is HA (and HA integration) related matter and we (Ruuvi) cannot really help with it
