En ole koskaan nähnyt ruuvigatewayn antavan huonompia kuin -80 rssi lukemia.
Kuitenkin kun luen ruuveja suoraan saan usein lukemia jotka ovat paljon pienempiä kuin -80; jopa alempia kuin -100.

Suodattaako Gateway nuo jotenkin pois? Miksi? Pystyykö tätä rajaa säätämään?

Ruuvi Gateway näkee säännöllisesti 6 lähintä ruuvia, mutta 2 kauimmaista näkyvät vain harvoin. Gatewayn herkkyys on kuitenkin paljon parempi kuin raspberryn, jolla luen ruuveja suoraan. Jos gateway näyttäisi kaikki arvot uskoisin että saisin myös nuo kauimmaiset ruuvit näkyviin.

RSSI on “Relative Signal Strength Indicator”, eikä se ole vertailukelpoinen eri laitteiden välillä. Gateway ei suodata tageja signaalivoimakkuuden perusteella, luultavasti ongelmana on että kauimmaiset tagit ovat aivan kuuluvuusalueen rajoilla ja useimmat viestit putoavat matkalla.

Signaalin voimakkuus voi vaihdella paljonkin ympäristön mukaan, esimerkiksi kylpyammeeni alla oleva tag putoaa jos joku tulee tagin ja Gatewayn väliin:

Otso replies: RSSI is a “Relative Signal Strength Indicator” and is not comparable between devices. The gateway does not filter tags based on signal strength, the problem is probably that the farthest tags are right at the boundaries of the coverage area and most messages fall en route.

The signal strength can vary a lot depending on the environment, for example the tag under my bathtub will fall if someone comes between the tag and the Gateway:

How close are the gateway and the raspberryPi ?

What phone are you using and how close to the gateway and the Pi when you get low readings?

Which Pi ?

Using an iPhone XS Max I don’t recall ever seeing readings less than -100.

Näinhän se on. Olin liian hätäinen. Nyt kun olen ajanut gaterwaytä muutaman päivän niin näen runsaasti noita < -90 ja muutaman < -100 RSSi arvoja.
Siirsin gatewayn hieman ylemmäs eli sijainti on todellakin merkitsevä.

I have quite many Pis. I use these to listen ruuvi stations:
Revision a020d3 Pi 3 Model B+ Sony, UK 1GB RAM
Revision a02082 Pi 3 Model B Sony, UK 1GB RAM
Revision 9000c1 PiZeroW with camera 512MB RAM

Now I can put those to do other things as Gateway has good enough range to reach all ruuvis.
