Johto on 1 metrin mittainen. Voisitko ottaa yhteyttä sales@ruuvi.com niin saatat saada anturit testikäyttöön jo nopeamminkin?
Projekti kaatui heti alkumetreille. Pitää ostaa ruuvitag pro. jotta saa lisäanturin, Täytyy kehittää jotain muuta tilalle. Vuosi On jo 20kpl pro antureita valmiina.
Hi Lauri
only discovered your post now as I was having a similar problem with an external TMP117 - the setup had started reporting temperature unreliably and drained a battery in two months
has this been fixed by now? is the cause known?
thanks
Michael
The excessive power consumption was caused by resistive flux used when manufacturer manually soldered the sensor component to the cable inside the metallic measurement tip capsule. They did not clean the flux after the soldering process. The issue got solved.
thanks - really appreciated!
Michael
I see it is possible to order RuuviTag External Temperature Sensor (1,0m cable) https://ruuvi.com/products/ruuvitag-external-temperature-sensor/
Have the known hw issues were solved in this item? Is it safe to order it?
I’m planning to use it for monitoring sauna temperature. Put Ruuvi Tag under the bench and move external sensor 70 cm higher.
UPDATE: Ordered. Works perfectly in sauna.
Hi Lauri
I see the external TMP117 can now be ordered from Ruuvi
it seems this doesnt have a heat-resistant cable - any plans for offering this?
80° max is insufficient for ballooning - we need up to 125°
best regards
Michael
Right now we are not developing other variations of this product. But please keep future suggestions coming, they are always appreciated ![]()
Hi Lauri,
I got me two of those sensors to see what can be done with them in the ballooning use case, and others like heating monitoring
let me be diplomatic -: I do not see using this product as-is in any scenario I can think of
-
the external sensor use case is real
-
the TMP117 as packaged is a solid sensor
-
the cable is just too fickle and sensitive
-
the way it is mounted and fed through the casing has “room for improval”
I understand being hesitant about a new case, new molds, and everything involved, but without a more sturdy packaging this will see limited uptake
so I’d suggest considering two alternatives (not necessarily exclusive):
-
steep: consider a case with a decent automotive grade connector, maybe something like the Deutsch DTM series (https://www.deutschconnector.com/products/deutsch_connectors/deutsch_dtm_series_connectors) - here’s an industrial product with a Deuscth DTM connector: https://rotarexsrg.com/product/electronic-level-gauge-smart-valve-series-462
-
easy: consider encouraging/moderating/issue a prize for third party projects which use your hardware in custom casings - nothing wrong having a few designs on printables.com and the like
speaking of which - what ever happened to https://github.com/ruuvi/harvester ? it would be super useful to have in many scenarios and it seems it fell by the wayside
suggestion: revive, guide, encourage
you do not have to cover every conceivable scenario yourself through a product variation - a bit of creativity might go a long way
best regards
Michael
Thanks for the suggestions ![]()
The harvester project you mentioned was a prototype project 11 years ago and we decided not to develop it further back then.
