How to install the ruuvi tag on the development kit?

Hi, I received my samples, and the package was great. I especially loved the personal note from the CEO!

Now, onto my actual question: I have ordered a development kit, but I’m struggling with how to mount the tag over the shield. I’m having trouble understanding the mounting orientation. I believe the plastic ties are meant to secure the RuuviTag over the shield, but since there are no guided instructions available—or at least I couldn’t find any—I’m having difficulty figuring out the setup. If there’s an instruction sheet provided or a link to a setup guide, it would be a huge help.

I’ve figured out the mounting orientation guide. The Ruuvi logo printed on the tag needs to match the logo printed on the shield. One pogo pin fits well into the through-hole, and then tying the plastic ties in a crisscross fashion through any of the four holes should secure the tag to the shield. I hope I’m correct about this.

Additionally, I wanted to ask if the USB cable for the devkit is intentionally not included in the package. Could you please confirm?

Hello @BleTagLearner ,

Indeed, the orientation pins should align with the holes in RuuviTag. Plastic ties can be used to keep the sensor in place.

The package includes 1 x Nordic Semiconductor nRF52-DK evaluation kit and 1 x Development shield designed for RuuviTag, there is no USB cable included.

Thank you for the clarification.

When the RuuviTag is mounted on the development kit, do I need to remove the battery from the RuuviTag?

To address these doubts, while exploring the website, I came across the following two links. However, there are some issues that need to be fixed. I request you please look in to it.

user manual pages

  1. Ruuvi DevShield | docs most of the links are broken
  2. https://lab.ruuvi.com/devshield/ page not found

Yes.

The devkit powers the RuuviTag, and running the debug interface in nRF52 would consume the battery really quickly. There’s also risk of reverse voltage flowing into battery, which could lead to damage to battery, Tag or devkit.

Thanks for the heads up for the much needed updates for product page, we will fix these.
