The Ruuvi Station app works like a charm, but it doesn’t show the distance of my RuuviTag. I’ve also tried about half dozen Android apps to check the distance, but none could connect to my RuuviTag. Any ideas?
Unfortunately there is no direct way to measure the exact distance with one receiver (a phone in your case), though you can get a very rough approximation of the distance using the signal strength (RSSI), but keep in mind that all items, walls, etc will affect the signal strength too.
To actually measure the distance you’d need multiple static receivers with known positions to triangulate the physical position of the sources (the tag and your phone) and then calculate the distance, which is how most indoors positioning systems work.
