BLE Water Meter

I have several ruuvitags and a gateway, which I poll for any BLE beacons then extract the data I want. It works great!

It’s such a simple setup, I’d love something similar for monitoring water consumption. Our utility water meter is decades old, but does seem to have an old pulse switch in it. Does anyone know of a BLE beacon emitting device that I could use to count pulses and read via the ruuvi gateway?

Failing that, maybe there’s a BLE beacon emitting meter that I could have a plumber install on our side of the utility meter?

Depending on the level of accuracy you are interested in you might try attaching a ruuvi to the meter and observe the movement counter. It is very sensitive.
Another, very imprecise idea, would be to attach a ruvvi to the pipe to monitor the temperature change. If placed at a nicely warmed location, the pipe will warm up when there is no water flowing. The water temperature from the source will be colder and you should be able to observe a temperature change when the water is flowing.

Just some wild and crazy ideas.
