BLE Company identifier reusing and first payload byte

Hi
In an old question, someone asked about keeping ruuvi BLE company identifier…

Your answer was:

“Just a quick note. If you use your own data format please have first payload byte of manufacturer specific data in range of 0xF0 … 0xFF to signal that a unofficial format is being used.”

Well, i am in the same situation and i did not understand what first byte you mean:

By default, the manufacturer payload starts by BLE ruuvi company identifier: 9904xxxxxxxxxxx
Right?

When you say that we must put some value from f0…ff on the first payload byte do you mean:

ff04xxxxxxxxx
Or
9904ffxxxxxxx

?

Thnak you verymuch

Sam

Hello Sam,

I mean the actual payload, so it would be 9904FF....
Please also note https://ruuvi.com/terms/can-or-cant/ and feel free to ask us if you have any more questions.

Understood!

Thank you very much
