Have you considered a device that measures wind speed and direction??

@MikeSchattl Have you seen my proof of concept model for wind direction at [MyBeacons.info](https://MyBeacons.info/windvane.html)  
Wind speed might be measurable using the same concept, i.e monitoring the time between Z-axis reporting 0.000 (+/-.005).
