Wall u-value measurement

Hello everyone,

I want to measure the heat capacity β€œU” (thermal performance) of a wall in order to perform a heat loss calculation.

My plan is to place three RuuviTag Pro sensors as follows:

  1. One mounted on the interior wall surface.
  2. One measuring the ambient indoor air temperature.
  3. One mounted on the exterior wall surface.

I intend to use thermal paste between the wall surfaces and the sensors to ensure better contact and more accurate surface temperature readings. I will then extract the measurement data directly from the .xml files generated by each sensor for analysis.

Has anyone attempted a similar setup? I would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or impressions on how reliable this method is.

My initial thought is that standard RuuviTag sensors are not really compatible with this experiment, since they’re designed to measure air temperature, not surface.
