In the RuuviTag’s data format documentation the unit of the acceleration values is mG. Just to be sure I’m interpreting this correctly: is this really the gravitational constant, as the sensor’s data sheet also seems to suggest, or are the values in m/s²?
The data format documentation is correct, the values are in mG, or one thousandth of the gravitational constant.
As such, if you place a tag flat on its back on a table, the Z axis should read close to 1000. A little bit over if your location is closer to the poles, and a little less if close to the equator.
